One of Europe’s largest ranges
SAATEN-UNION has one of the most extensive breeding programmes in Europe with over 20 breeding stations and over 100 trial sites in Germany and abroad working on more than 40 agricultural crops. Currently, the range covers more than 200 registered varieties.

Concentration and cooperation – no contradiction
The SAATEN-UNION concept involves concentrating intensively on a few species at each breeding establishment. For rape, maize, peas, sunflower and hybrid and population ryes, cooperation on specific crop varieties – ensures focused and successful breeding work.

Market leadership through comprehensive knowledge
SAATEN-UNION follows a holistic approach in its breeding work. As the only supplier of a comprehensive range of varieties from nearly all agricultural species in Germany, the company is able to utilise experience from a very wide range of areas. For example, knowledge from hybrid maize breeding was used in breeding hybrid rye, rape and wheat.

Close ties with practical agriculture
The member companies of SAATENUNION are themselves active farmers. They cultivate some 10,000 hectares of arable land and understand what farmers need from their varieties. These close ties with practical agriculture are reflected in varieties with outstanding agronomic characteristics.
